Meet Bridget
Meet Bridget, a Vosmaeri Eclectus who was hatched on 12/19/94, which makes her 16 years old. She and Bo lived in the same home. Their owner had hoped to breed them, but luckily was unsuccessful. Although they've lived together their entire lives, they are not bonded and will be adopted to different homes.
Bridget can be a bit unpredictable and temperamental. We're looking for an experienced ekkie home for her.
She is handleable, but sometimes prefers not to be. Her new owner will need to become proficient in her body language in order to have a harmonious life together. Please stop by if you'd like to meet Bridget.

Meet Bo
Bo is an approximately 16 year old male Vosmaeri Eclectus. As you can see, he's plucked out most of his chest feathers and we're not sure whether they will grow back.
Bo is incredibly sweet and has a fantastic personality. He loves being out of his cage and getting lots of attention! Bo also can be very loud, especially when he thinks he's being ignored. Here is an example of his mischievousness. He was standing on the counter while volunteers were putting price tags on toys to be sold in the store. Bo went over, grabbed the price tags and started chewing them! (Sorry the picture is a bit back-lit.!
Ekkies have different dietary needs than most parrots. While the person who adopts Bo does not necessarily have to have eclectus experience, they will have to educate themselves on the eclectus diet -- we can help you with that. Please stop by if you'd like to meet Bo. He will make a tremendous addition to some lucky family!

Saturday scenes
Last Saturday, like most Saturdays, was a busy one at the Center. Towards the end of the day, many of the volunteers found themselves hanging out at the front of the store. Two parrots had gone home today to loving -- and hopefully permanent -- homes.
As I looked around, I realized that all of the volunteers was hanging out with a bird. As it should be, as these birds crave attention! I had a grey on my lap, but didn't take her picture.

The cockatoo and eclectus in these pictures are up for adoption. Hopefully they too will soon have the joy of joining a family!

Lexy the Eclectus
Lexy is not currently up for adoption, as we need to find out the results of her thyroid testing and work to transform her diet. However, she will be looking for a new home once her health improves.
