Meet Pia

Meet Pia, a young hybrid amazon. She is a mix of orange-wing and blue-front. We don't know much of Pia's early life. She was found wandering around outside in below-freezing weather. She must have been found relatively quickly after getting outside, as she does not appear to have any permanent damage done to her feet.Based on her appearance, especially her eyes and beak, we suspect that she is around 1 year old. Extensive efforts were put forth to find her owners -- if someone was looking for her, they would have found her.

Pia found her way to us, and is now looking for a home that will cherish and take wonderful care of her.

She doesn't know how to step up (we're working with her on that and she may have learned by the time this entry is posted) but is tame and doesn't bite.

She loves to play with toys -- we've rarely seen a bird so interested in toys when they first get here!
As always, stop by and meet Pia if you think your home might be a good fit for her!

Why do you say she is a hybrid? She looks like a very typical Orange Wing Amazon to me. She is beautiful and I wish you guys did out of area adoptions. ;-)

Is Pia still available?

Amy -- sorry for the delay in responding. The pictures may not do her justice, but she definitely has blue-front coloring that we haven't seen on orange wings before (though we've only had adult orange wings at the Center before.) Two vets have examined her and both independently thought she was a hybrid as well. Of course, since she was a stray, there is no way to know for sure! We do do out of area adoptions, though we do not ship, so you'd have to be willing to make a trip to the Center :)

Evon -- Pia is still available! If you are interested, you can fill out a bird wanted questionnaire on our website, which is the application, or call/e-mail the Center with more questions. Thanks for your interest!

Thanks so much for the information! I always look at your wonderful birds so perhaps if/when I am ready to add another flock member I will reach out to you. I never mind a good road trip. ;-)
